The tour takes you to Lake Mburo National Park for wildlife viewing, birdwatching, boat trips and guided nature walks. Lake Mburo National Park is about 3.5 hours drive from Kampala. Lake Mburo National Park is a very special place; every part of it is alive with variety, interest and colour.
Lake Mburo National Park contains an extensive area of wetland and harbours several species of mammals including zebras, impalas, elands, topi and buffaloes.
The bird population includes the rare Shoebill stork.
Its sculptured landscape with rolling grassy hills and idyllic lakeshores has a varied mosaic of habitats: forest galleries, rich acacia tree valleys, seasonal and permanent swamps which all support a wealth of wildlife.
The park is only 370sq km and the smallest of Uganda's savannah national parks. Its mosaic habitat: dry hillside, rocky outcrops, bushes, thickets, open and wooded savannahs, forests, lakes and swamps are home to a surprising diversity of plants and animals.
Tour Itinerary
Depart by road to Lake Mburo National Park (the drive will take approximately 3-4 hours). You will have a stopover to look at the Royal Drum makers, stand at the Equator for a photographic opportunity and also listen to some few interesting facts. Continue to Lake Mburo National Park.
This Park is an extension of the Tanzanian plains with big herds of zebra, impala, eland and other ungulates. Bird viewing opportunities are excellent - for birders, this is one of the best places to find African fin foot, papyrus bush shrike. After checking in at your accommodation and having lunch, you will take a late afternoon game drive or a dugout canoe. Dinner and overnight at accommodation your choice depending on the budget.
Day 2: Lake Mburo National Park ( B , L ,D )
Take an early morning game drive through the park in search of plain game like zebra, hippos, crocodiles, eland, antelope, impala and a variety of birds. You will return to your accommodation for breakfast and then take a guided nature walk. This walk takes you to the Salt Lick Area which offers a chance to see at least four different species of animals at any one point while they lick the salty soil.Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight .
Day 3: Lake Mburo National Park - Kampala ( B , L )
After Breakfast depart for Kampala. Arriving early Evening. Retire to your hotel.
