A 17 days Uganda discovery trip. A Uganda safari holiday that takes you to a number of attractions in Uganda. It begins from Lake Mburo National Park and ends in Kampala after seventeen days magnificent Uganda experience. Activities in this Uganda trip include, game drives, bird watching, launch cruise, chimpanzee trekking, white water rafting, among others.

In Lake Mburo National Park , you will be introduced to several species of mammals including zebras, impalas, elands, topi and buffaloes. Its sculptured landscape with rolling grassy hills and idyllic lakeshores has a variety of habitats that support a variety of wildlife: forest galleries.The trip then continues to Lake Bunyonyi ‘place of many little birds’ lies in south western Uganda between Kisoro and Kabale close to the border with Rwanda. In Lake Bunyonyi, tourist activities include; canoeing, swimming, bird watching, hill climbing,treasure hunting, cave trekking and cultural visits of the Batwa-Pygmies

The Uganda trip then proceeds to Queen Elizabeth National Park which,together with Kyambura and Kigezi Wildlife Reserves form one of the most diverse ecosystems in Africa. Among the many animals frequently seen are Tree Climbing Lions, Elephants ,giant forest hog, waterbucks, topi, hyenas,crocodiles etc. The park boasts of more bird species than any other park in Africa .After Queen Elizabeth National Park, this tour will will take you to Kibale Forest National Park , a large protected rainforest which offers a very diverse variety of birds.

Our next stop is Murchison Falls National Park .The park derives its name from the Murchison Falls where the mighty River Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and flows down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks and buffaloes.Wildlife includes lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeests, oribis, Uganda kobs, chimpanzees and many bird species including the rare shoebill. Nature walks can be conducted at Rabongo Forest, Top of the Falls and Kaniyo Pabidi in Budongo Forest.

.We end the Uganda safari by adventure trip to Jinja,the Source of River Nile. White water rafting at he source of the Nile river is one of the most fun adventure activities that you can experiences. Just under an hour's drive from Kampala this is one of those tour activities that can be done in one day. For those with a spirit of adventure this activity can be coupled with bungee jumping at the Nile High camp which is the only bungee jumping platform in East Africa. Come experience the adrenaline as you plunge from 44m in to the legendary River Nile.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival.
One of our company representatives will pick you from the airport and transfer you to you to a Kampala/ Entebbe hotel for overnight.

Day 2: Kampala – Lake Mburo National park (B, L, D)
Drive south westwards stopping at the Mpigi Drum Makers, get a chance to view how the local drums are made using traditional methods.  Have another stop at the equator for photographs and souvenirs. Drive by local communities and the rolling plains of Ankole. Continue on to Lake Mburo National Park, the only park in the country with an entire lake from which it derives its name. Check in to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Mburo National Park (B, L, D)
Early morning game drive and enjoy the rich biodiversity including large herds of zebra, impala, gigantic eland, topis and bird species like the African Finfoot, Lilac Breasted Roller, Handsome Francolin and the Black-bellied Bustard. The leopard, hyenas and jackal are the predators in the park. Take an afternoon boat ride and view a diversity of animal and plant species: crocodiles, hippos and birds including Pelicans, Black Crake and Heron Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.

Day 4: Lake Mburo National Park – Lake Bunyonyi (B, L, D)
Have an optional safari walk in the park. Lake Mburo is the only park where one can view wild game on a safari walk. Late breakfast and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi with a brief stop at IGongo cultural centre. This has a rich cultural heritage of western Uganda. Drive past local communities and the winding hills of Kigezi to Lake Bunyonyi. This is popularly known as the place for many birds.

Day 5: Lake Bunyonyi (B, L, D)
Have an early morning nature walk on the Island (This is good for birders) or embark  on an early boat ride around the islands on the lake, continue on to the Batwa communities and take note of their local livelihoods. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Lake Bunyonyi – Queen Elizabeth National Park (B, L, D)
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park arriving late in the afternoon for a brief game drive. Overnight stay at accommodation of your choice.

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park (B, L, D)
Get up ready for a 6.30 am morning game drive. The park’s diverse ecosystem of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Look out for buffaloes, lions, elephants and other wild life in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge for a late breakfast. After lunch go for the afternoon launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This is a home of a variety of water birds and on a hot day, hippos, elephants, buffaloes and waterbucks can be sighted as they bathe and drink water at the water edge. Crocodiles are occasionally sighted along the channel banks. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Queen Elizabeth National Park (B, L, D)
Have a nature walk in Maramagambo forest, Optional activities include trekking chimps in Kyambura gorge today, alternatively we can visit Katwe salt lake. Take note of the traditional methods used by the local community to extract Salt. Dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Kibale Forest National park (B, L, D)
Drive through the foot hills of Rwenzori Ranges on to Fort portal. On our way we can visit  amabere caves near fort portal The caves have got stalagmites and stalactites but which are locally referred to as amabere by the native people. The caves have got some water falls. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Kibale Forest National Park (B, L, D)
Early morning walk in Kibale Forest to track the habituated chimps. Watch the delightful apes as they squabble and play in trees. After lunch, we shall go for a 2-3 hour optional nature walk in Bigodi Swamp a home of 200 bird species including the Papyrus Gonolek and the Great Blue Turaco. The swamp has also got 8 Primate Species and an abundance of butterflies. Get a chance to visit Bigodi women’s project located at the wetland sanctuary office in Bigodi trading centre. The group sells Mats, bags, jewelry and 10% of all sales from crafts contribute to community development and over the years, the income has funded Bigodi Pre – Primary school and supported orphans, widows, the disabled and other disadvantaged people in the community. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Kibale Forest National Park – Murchison Falls National Park (B, L, D)
Drive through the country side and local communities arriving in the evening. Checkin at accommodation of your choice for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Murchison Falls National Park (B, L, D)
Early morning game drive to search for giraffes, lions, hart beasts, elephants, cape buffalo and many other mammals. Birds include the Black Chested Snake Eagle, Blue Napped Mousebirds, the Secretary bird, Swallow Tailed Bee-eaters and the Silver Headed Agama. After lunch, enjoy a boat ride on the placid Victoria Nile to the foot of the magnificent Murchison Falls where the Nile plunges through a narrow crevice and over a 40 metre drop. En route, you may see the Nile crocodile, pools of hippo, water bucks and a variety of bird specie. Disembark from your boat and take a 45 minutes hike to the gorge where the river explodes in to several cascades to form the falls.  Dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Murchison Falls National Park (B, L, D)
Optional boat ride to the Delta. Chances of spotting the shoe bill are 80%. Have lunch and transfer to Budongo Forest with a stop at the top of the falls. Dinner and Overnight stay.

Day 14: Murchision Falls National Park – Kampala (B, L, D).
Early morning Chimp trek. Return to the lodge for an early lunch and transfer to Kampala. Overnight stay at a Kampala city hotel.

Day 15: Kampala – Jinja (B, L, D)
Have an early breakfast and visit the source of the Nile River for a boat ride. After lunch, transfer to Bujagali Falls. Dinner and Overnight stay.

Day 16: Jinja (B, L, D)
After breakfast, go for an adventure of white water rafting. Enjoy the most thrilling white water rafting at different grade stages in the morning. Alternatively you can have a bungee Jump or a 3 hour quad bike. (All are optional or extra activities) Have lunch at the hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 17: Jinja – Kampala (B, L).
Optional city tour, visit old Kampala mosque, Bahai temple, Rubaga/Namirembe Cathedrals and Kabaka’s lake. Taste some of Uganda’s local dishes at the Nommo gallery.
